“Breathing is the most vital action we take in our lives, because it IS the essence of life for us. Yet it is also the most unconscious action that we take. For this reason, becoming conscious of how you breathe, and then deliberately directing the flow of breath and prana into your body is the single most powerful action you can take toward living a conscious life.”
~Kara-Leah Grant, Meditative Writer & Yoga Instructor
This is a guest post from Kara-Leah Grant at Prana Flow NZ - Inspiration for practicing, living & sharing yoga. She is an experienced writer, yoga and meditation practitioner, and she often combines these two passions to create “Meditative Writings.”
Here’s what she had to say about the process:
“When I write a meditative piece, I don’t ‘think’ about what to say - instead I select a topic and see what comes through. So the process is very similar to meditation. That is, as I sit at my computer, I take a moment or two to centre myself, grounding my feet flat on the floor, breathing deeply into my diaphragm and spine… and letting go. Allowing there to be nothing but emptiness in my mind, and then typing the words that float up to fill the space.
It’s a method of talking to myself that I use to gain clarity on something - call it my ego-self talking to my my higher self if you like. Anyone can use these simple techniques to connect with their internal guidance or wisdom - the trick is to be able to get the nagging, doubtful, fearful, critical voices out of the way first! Meditation and yoga is very useful for doing this.”
This piece was inspired by wondering about how change will truly come about in the world, and how the internet might impact that change.
How will the change come about? What role does the internet have to play?
The internet is the means by which all like-souled individuals can connect.
It is the way that you speak to each other so that you know that you are not alone.
That you are not weird.
That it’s ok to be who you are.
Because the power to create lies in accepting WHO you are.
When society seeks to mold you and force you to be other than that which you are…
And you ALLOW this to happen, chasing the carrots of fame and fortune and acceptance and love…
Being that which you think they want…
You hand away your power. You give it all away.
Step back a moment.
Take a moment.
BE in this moment.
And ponder this.
Is it worth giving away your very identity for fame, for fortune?
Then do it. And wonder why you are never happy. Why you suffer through addictions and breakdowns…
Not all are meant to be ‘rich’. Not all are meant to be ‘known’.
Remember, being ‘rich’, or ‘known’ does not make you any more important than the person who lives a quiet, modest life…
No, all that really defines you in this life is your ability to BE who you ARE.
Those who ARE who they are, they are the ones who have succeeded.
Those who are nothing but playing a role in order to achieve… they have failed.
For when you become that which you are, all else flows and nothing matters and you experience love and joy.
And when you deny all that you are and run from it in fear then you experience longing and desire and wanting.
No amount of money, nor love, nor adoration, nor fame can satiate this longing, desire and wanting.
This is the cry of a soul wanting to be heard.
Wanting to be expressed.
Are you so afraid to face yourself?
Are you so afraid to SEE who you really are?
Do you think YOU could ever be anything less than perfect?
You are perfect, just as you are, underneath all the layers of shoulds and shouldn’ts worn to protect yourself from a judging world.
One day, when you stand up AS you, when you live AS you, when you experience the joy of BEING You…
One day you will wonder why you waited so long.
You will wonder why you were afraid.
Because in becoming you, you come into your own true power,
The power to create all that expresses who you are
The power to love as you are,
The power to live as you are.
And it is only when you become who you REALLY are that you can experience love as IT really is.
For while fame and fortune are not written into the contracts of all…
ALL can experience love.
It is the birth right of humanity.
Because when you discover who you are,
When you uncover your deepest self,
You will find that at the core of your identity.
You do not need to seek love, search for love or find love.
You do not need.
Because
You
ARE
Love.
