Embrace the Ancestors

Thanks for reading Vera Nadine!
I have had some wonderful responses to my Universal Soul video meditation and the Reading the Trees Meditation that I wrote quite a while back so I thought that it was high time for a new guided meditation.
Our Earth Mother is ever-changing, ever-loving and time as we think we know it does not exist.
So with the people of yesterday and the people of today sharing one Earth, though on several different planes of existence, it seems only right that we honor them as our ancestors and our descendants. Let’s open ourselves to what the great ancestors have to teach us….
~
Begin this meditation by finding yourself a private, relatively dark place. I have a little walk-in closet that I turned into a meditation room but any old corner of a room should do.
Sit cross-legged and begin by following a deep-breathing regime. I use a “count to ten” regime, in one, out one - in two, out two. Remember, it’s not about the number of breaths but the mindfulness, paying attention to the feelings and sounds of each inward and outward breath.
Your mind may wander but keep returning to thoughts of the breath.
By the time you reach the outward breath on ten you should be calmer and have a slower heart rate.
In your minds-eye you see yourself before a fire, sitting comfortably. You feel safe here and at home.
The setting is one that calls out to your heart, it may be a circle of trees, the bowels of an ancient temple, the inside of a simple barn….but it is You.
It is a place that holds strength and comfort for your soul.
Smoky billows rise from the fire and you smell the pungent incense as you breath it in.
Off in the distance you can hear music, not recorded but true, raw music, being made by hundreds of people.
The tune weeps and bends, rising in crescendos and dipping low to near inaudibility.
This is the sound of community, of souls overflowing with joy.
The drums and pipes and folksy strings continue to sing in the background, as you gaze into the fire.
You feel its crackling heat on your face.
For a moment you almost think that you have seen eyes within the flames, staring back into yours.
It is only then that you become aware, lovingly, of another presence there with you.
It is a woman, an old woman, strong but kind.
She speaks to you in a voice that seems familiar.
Yet she speaks in a language that you do not recognize.
Strangely, you understand these forgotten words.
She is welcoming you back home. She calls you, “my child, my grandparent.”
With a sweep of her hand she invites you to gaze into the portal of the fire, beyond its haze and into the land of your true ancestors….
Now let that focus of vision takes you where it will, returning, when you are through, to the warmth and safety of this ancient home within your own heart.
~
Time and again you may come to a similar place. Each visit will bring new connections and changing visions to guide you on your inner journey.
The place may change and the music. Your guide will alternately be a male or a female.
This changeability is the magic of the universe, the ability of the great mother and father to provide to you the exact guidance that you need for the stage you are at on your path.
We have each of us lived several lives, known countless places and served myriad aims along the way. Use this process as a doorway through which to visit all the aspects inside of you, that make up the glorious spiritual being of your soul.
