How to Make a Million Dollars the Spiritual Way

    Thanks for reading Vera Nadine!

It’s big business now. Everyone is out there chasing their wildest financial dreams. Chasing it down with a good healthy dose of spiritual advice and calling it a new way of life.

Ladies and gents, How to Make a Million Dollars the Spiritual Way:

Go out and mug a deep philosophical concept in a dark alley. Shake it down and take all of its more obvious applicable values. Run home thinking you’ve done the concept a favor. Sit under blinding artificial light with your eyes squinting at your apparent “booty” and then, without letting what you’ve found change your personal perceptions at all, write a book about what you think you’ve learned.

Calling it a Law makes this more appealing.

Get your publisher to send it to a bunch of high-minded celebrities and wait for the phone to ring. Once it rings, shave, grab your book and go sit down on the Oprah or Dr. Phil show. Explained with feigned sincerity how you came to this knowledge through long-term personal reflection and years of emotional struggle.

Wait two days.

Call your publishers to tell them where to send the check. Buy a villa and sit on your private Mediterranean beach pondering how much you LOVE being spiritual.

AND, NOW THAT WE’VE GOTTEN THAT OUT OF THE WAY:

How to Earn What You Truly Need By Being Who You Truly Are

My favorite quote of all time, and one which you will undoubtedly hear me use ad naseum, came from some teenie-bopper beauty magazine that I read in the late 1980’s…..

That Which Sustains Life is Sacred

Money does not sustain life. It is a tool for redirecting life energy from its truly powerful self to a desperately subservient nature. It makes humans into machines, programmed for one purpose only: to chase the inanimate paper object of pretty colors with numbers in the corners. Cash is the most nonspiritual pursuit that one could ever dream up.

What does sustain life is connection, communication, love, security, abundance. Spirituality is a series of concepts gathered together in a way that feeds the individual soul. Success is the exact same thing, life concepts arranged together in a bouquet that makes the heart smile.

A million dollars is not a concept, it is a thing. Redefining this into a series of concepts is the first step to earning what you truly need.

Why do you want to make a million dollars?

Is it about prestige? Because in the prestige department a million dollars in nothing but peanuts nowadays.

Is it about bills? Again a million dollars doesn’t go far after taxes. Latch onto a concept such as prosperity instead. Prosperity can come in many forms, not just cash. Bills are held in a big computer somewhere. Computers crash, computers have operator errors. One of them could work in your favor. Credit reports have statutes of limitations. One of them could come up just when you need your credit to look better. Prosperity can also represent generosity on someone else’s part. Give=receive…believe it. So forget about bills for now.

Is the million dollars about Stuff? Ahhhh…now we are getting somewhere. Walking a spiritual path and trying to reconcile that path with the systems of modern society is the eternal struggle. But I can tell you that stuff never did make ANYTHING better. It clutters the home then clutters the mind eventually making neither of these a nice place to live in. Instead of outrageous desires think about the things that would honestly make you happy.

This is where the sustaining life part comes in. Life is about health, happiness, creativity, community, love and enjoyment. A warm, safe home makes me happy. Homegrown organic food makes me healthy. The ability to travel allows me to enjoy my place in the world. Etc, etc…

See how redefining your reasons for wanting or needing things can help you to conceptualize them and bring you one step closer to manifesting them in your life?

Now I never said that you cannot make a million dollars in some spiritual way. I actually believe that you can make more than that. But this cannot be your focus if the path to it is truly going to be a spiritual one. The ubiquitous “they” say to never take your eyes off of the ball. But this is not a game of glory that we are playing here, it is a life path. And a spiritual one at that.

Taking your eyes off of the ball says to the universe that you have faith. Faith that what you need is already coming for you. It says, I know that I am not in this alone and that others are working with me towards the ultimate goal, towards manifesting prosperity in this world.

Other people do help you carry the ball towards the goal, often unknowingly.

Why do they do this? Simple, like attracts like. No, I am not talking about the law of attraction here. Okay, I am, but not in a “The Secret” kind of way. More like in a “universal truth” kind of way.

In order to achieve what you want you do not have to go out and butt your head against the doors of the tower. You simply have to do two things: redefine the what and why of the wanting and give what you expect to receive. (Now do you see why redefining the terms from cash to concept is necessary…for how can you give money when you yourself need it?)

If you are needing doors of opportunity open to you, then open doors of opportunity for someone else. If you are wanting positive energy to come into your life, do little things to give positive energy to others. If you believe that new channels of communication are what you need to move you forward right now then go out and open up just one new channel with someone else.

If you do it once it comes back to you three times. This is the old Wiccan concept that I go by. But don’t take my word for it. This is called reciprocity and most of the strong spiritual traditions out there have one form of it or another.

I actually think that the Wiccans have it wrong because what you do can come back to you several times over, not just three, if your intent is correct. So go out there and do as you would have done and see how fast it starts manifesting in your own life.

I said that you shouldn’t focus on the million dollars. So what should you focus on? You should focus on your strengths. You should focus on the things that life is truly about: health, happiness, creativity, community, love and enjoyment.

The old adage “Be Who You Are and The Money Will Follow” could not be more true in this instance. Are you well-versed is some uplifting spiritual concept? Then by all means write an instructional book about it. But write a balanced, well-rounded book that does the concepts or philosophies justice. Can you paint canvases that illustrate the sefirot of the Kabbalah in emotional, mind-opening burst of color? Great! Then allow this to be your creative outlet for bringing awareness to the world.

If you are actively walking a spiritual path then you, as that aware traveler, must have some understanding of the concepts of life. Perhaps you are fairly expert in one or all of these concepts. Even if you are just seeking, you must give yourself an outlet for expression. Just remember that doing things with truth and integrity is a most lasting pathway to prosperity than claiming a knowledge or understanding that you don’t have.

Claiming to be a Druid or a Tibetan Monk, a Witch or a Prophet when you are simply a writer or an artist or an entrepreneur who is seeking fame and fortune is a surefire way to set yourself up for failure. Lets say that you sell enlightenment videos or books or even travel tours based on these claims. It may lead to quick initial popularity and short bursts of outlandish cashflow but people have a way of finding the emptiness in empty words. A slow ascension towards your goals with valuable, true spiritual intent is the best way to ensure continuing success and loyal clients who find personal value in your work.

Focus on sharing yourself with others and on bringing the manifestation of at least one of life’s core values into the lives of others. Helping others to know love for example, by giving of yourself, virtually guarantees that the true manifestation of love is coming your way.

Many people sit and struggle and never understand why things are not coming for them, not moving. The reasons for this can be so simple. YOU get what YOU give. This could not be more true.

I have a small core group of other bloggers with whom I interact on a relatively frequent basis. We are all working to inspire readers with a sense of the spiritual aspects of life while also working towards financial freedom and prosperity in our own lives. It may sound silly but the nice comments from others and the few little pennies that are made from Google Ads are quite important. These things give you a lift, a sense of community, of knowing that your creative outlet is touching people and a glimmer of hope that this path could indeed become a prosperous one.

Well it can become easy to slip into the old mundane and say to yourself, “Why aren’t visitors clicking my ads?” The simple truth can be found in reciprocity. When you read someone else’s website, do you click ads? Ha. Busted! I never did either.

But an amazing thing happened when I decided (as has Kara-Leah Masina) to start leaving each page that I view by clicking an ad…….people actually started clicking MY ads. Plain and simple, you get what you give. And when my ad clicks fall I undoubtedly realize that its been a few days since I went out and clicked other peoples ads.

Pay it Forward. That’s all that I have to say.

I sell professional services. I give readings, carry out coaching sessions and interpret spiritual dreams in order to help people clear the brambles from their own paths. These are essentially professional pay services that I greatly enjoy offering. But I am not above, nor will I ever be, offering these services for free or for barter to people whom I feel really need them.

I have often been broke in my life. That has never made me less intelligent, less valid or less of a feeling human being. I do not believe that finances hold people back, I believe that mindset does. And if I can help one person with their unprosperous mindset then I am helping myself towards prosperity as well.

People remember good deeds and so does the universe.

Redefining who you are in relation to what dictates your ultimate goals, and in relation to how you go about manifesting those goals, signals the universe that you are serious about walking your own path. That you are serious about taking responsibility for your own destination.

Once the world receives this signal from you, you’ll be surprised how fast things will happen for you.

I’d bet a million dollars on it!

Great stuff Vera, reciprocity is something that a lot of people talk about but forget to do! And nice knock on The Secret haha!

    Hi Vera,

Great post. The Secret talks a lot about visualizing to make things manifest.

And I have been studying the law of attraction and manifestation for many years.

And what I have discovered is that visualizing what we want (like a million dollars for example) is not what makes things manifest like The Secret says.

Visualizing is important, but it is really the sizzle not the steak.

Especially since I think a lot of people walk around negative all the time and then look at their vision board or visualize and then get surprised that dream house didn’t fall on their head. (metaphorically not like the wicked witch of the east)

What I have found is that lining up with my true self is what nets me more results that anything else.

I do that by appreciation and moving up the emotional scale. I am in sales, and when I am in that state MMMMMMMMM I am so good at what I do I always make more money and my customers love me. Things just flow.

I also notice that when I do that I am most generous and giving and I apply the law of reciprocity by default- because it feels so good to uplift others and give to others.

    You are so worthy,

    -Jonathan Bankert

    Vera,

Your articles just keep getting better and better. I’m supposed to be writing today’s post right now (and I am always so dedicated about doing that first…) but the first few lines of your article were so tempting in my technorati favourites that I just had to scoot over here and read it…

I love how you define success.

I love how you talk about prosperity.

You make me feel motivated, and all warm and fuzzy on the inside.

Quite simply, this article ROCKS. I’m gonna DIGG it, and I call on all other readers here to do the same. It’s about time us spiritual bloggers started making waves on DIG the way people like Steve Pavlina did.

    Much love,
    KL

    Great post Vera.

I love the focus on defining yourself in terms of what lies behind your goals.

I recently heard someone say that money is an enabler and an amplifier.

As an enabler, it makes it much easier for people to achieve goals, and manifest their desires.

Since money enables people to readily achieve their desires, we all get to see what those people really want.

The “good” and the “bad” are out in the open where everyone can see them.
Sometimes it’s not such a pretty picture.

If I want to build a house, I need to focus on building the house, not on owning tools.

Focusing on making the million dollars is a lot like focusing on the tools instead of the house.

Instead we could be focusing on living the unique greatness that we all have inside, and acquiring the tools we need (such as money) to live that life, and share our gifts with others.

I’m afraid I have to disagree with the main points of this post. Money isn’t unspiritual and neither is wanting it, anymore than fire or electricity is unspiritual. They are neutral forces that can be used for good or ill.
With this judgemental attitude towards money, life will always bring you financial struggle. Why should money want to hang out with you when you think you’re so much better than her. And it is a ‘her’ by the way. Check out astrology to gain some clarity on this point. Venus, the goddess of love & beauty is also the goddess of wealth and prosperity. In hinduism, she is Lakshmi. And the way it works is this - if you love her, she will love you right back! That’s right…love money to get money. Goes against all your judeo-christian morality doesn’t it, but look around you and you can see that this is how it works in the world. The people with a lot of money are those that truly love money. And those of you who choose to look down your spiritual noses at Venus and her bounty, find her giving you the cold shoulder in return.
So the moral of this is, if you want plenty of money, don’t play hard to get with Venus/money: love her unreservedly and she in return will shower you with her gifts of abundance.

You obviously don’t read my blog that often or you would have realize that I, myself, am a Goddess Worshipper who does indeed know that balance of using all manifestations of power for either good or ill. So sorry that this message escaped you, not all words are for all ears.
