Thanks for reading Vera Nadine!
Good Morning Everyone and welcome to the first moment of the rest of your life. What do you want in your world and on your path? Do we make our own reality? You better believe it! Be a grump if you want but don’t be shocked an awed when more stuff seems to come at you that makes you grumpy…you called it. So cheer up and watch the good stuff flow. Banish fear, it makes you anxious and for what purpose? Just for the purpose of giving the bad stuff the power that it needs to happen.
We all have big hopes and dreams but everything occurs on a continuum, amidst a series of little steps. So keeping joy and positivity in our hearts and minds at all turns will make us more likely to succeed at the big things (and ensure that we are more healthy to enjoy it when we get there.) It may sound cheesy to some but laugh at your silly cats, smile when you see a flower in bloom, stop and enjoy the breeze on your face, put your joyful hands in the earth and tend a garden, tickle a baby and make it giggle, hum along with the bees and whistle with the birds. It does a world of good to appreciate the little things.
If we do make our own reality then how do we make it? A reader asked about these things a while back. Well there are parts of our reality that we (as each individual) control for ourselves and there are parts of our reality which simply are as they are. For example You as a person are not creating the larger construct or time-based matrix in which we live ie. the Earth, the weather, the Government, the financial system. Some of these are creations of the ALL, the one creator, and some of these are collective beliefs, collective creations which can only be transformed by a shift in the larger collective belief of “reality.”
We cannot control all of reality because of the human construct, a matrix which has evolved over time, through careful removal from nature. Feed people information at a rate at which they cannot possibly digest it and they will not even try, overwhelm them with processes and systems so complicated as to distract, make them forget about creating their realities by flickering created realities before them at a speed faster than the waking brain fires and they will not challenge because of despair and fatigue. So things get created within a solid construct and then stay there, forever extant as a testament to the fact that we do not create our own realities and people start to believe that things happen “to” them and not “with” them.
Why would the universe let this continue? Well you have to realize that in the beginning what would become the “construct” started as a general human will, a simple creation in one person’s “reality” but energies were added to it by others and others and so on, these are people who understood the making of reality and so added to the idea and ideas purposefully, with an urge to build a control mechanism. What exists now is like that law “an object in motion has a tendency to stay in motion,” the construct is like a snowball rolling down a mountainside, gathering mass and speed as it goes. Eventually it will hit a boulder or an outcropping that causes it to explode into nothing but a pile of useless, discarded ideas. But it hasn’t happened yet.
You however do make your own reality, ie. the life challenges that you experience and the gifts or joys that you receive along the way. These can include mental blocks, physical ailments, emotional baggage, the way that you relate to people, to money, to all sorts of things, what you choose to work at and how you expend your energy into the greater energy of the world around you, what you take pleasure in and how often you choose to take pleasure or be pleasant in general, etc…
The first thing to understand is that the universe never responds in opposites, it only responds in kind. Thus the phrase “like attracts like.” This is a universal truth. So if you get angry because you are not having good luck in your life guess what you get coming toward your life? Not good luck but…anger. See how it works. Of course, it seems so simple here on the page but it is very difficult in practice. Humans are emotional beings, its what makes us human. (Personally I blame alien tinkering with our genome but you can go with evolution if you want.) If enough negativity is drawn toward your energy output then it cannot all manifest outside of you and may manifest as physical illness. This is not to say that all illness is a result of a person’s energy output, some of it was chosen by you before incarnating in this life to set you challenges which enable you to learn the necessary lessons for your souls progress. Sometimes it can also be energies accumulated in past lives working themselves out now.
The best policy to answer negativity, whether physical, spiritual, psychological, financial etc., is to give off the opposite of what you are experiencing, give off positivity. Heck, I know that this is hard, perhaps even impossible, in some situations (look up “worry-wart” in the dictionary and I’ll be there waving out at you.) But you must try at least, and mean it…the universe has a funny way of detecting insincerity at light-speed. Now, I am not saying quit working for change in the physical realm, quit doing what would be a normal response to problems, ie. seeing a doctor, changing your monthly budget, but just do these things with a constant belief underlying it all that you know everything will turn out great.
You can’t go wrong with positive action, even in seemingly negative situations. Sometimes the universe needs a little nudge, a little expression of our dedication to our chosen path in the face of all odds. (I had such a challenge recently…see Back From a Forced Hiatus) What I mean is responding with the action that you might like others to take on your behalf or responding by helping others in the same situation as yourself. If you are hungry, go and volunteer at a homeless shelter or a local food bank. If you have AIDS and are still feeling well go and volunteer at an STD clinic or an AIDS hospice. Put positive energy out there around your negative situation and know that you will be better for it. Sometimes the universe gives us challenges so that we can learn to sympathize with others in the same situation.
What I am saying here is that you cannot control what is “out there” in the world, at least not by yourself. But you can control what is brought into “your world.” You cannot control whether Monsanto makes Earth-poisoning weed killer but you can control whether you bring its energy and its existence into YOUR world. You cannot control whether the government bombs a market in Baghdad but you can control how much of their propaganda you allow into your brain energy and you can control whether you react in a way that benefits the world or a way that does nothing for the world.
There are many ways that we make our own reality and our ability to influence not only the universe but the people and other living beings around us is profound. Hug someone that you know needs it, pick up a glove for someone that’s dropped it, bring cookies to your new neighbor, read a story to a little child, thank the cashier for her patience when you both have to wait on an unruly customer in line, go bring afghans to a nursing home or booties to a preemie ward. The secret is that it makes you feel good and it makes them feel good, and in the process it lets the universe know that you are “open for business” so to speak. It opens you up to love and positivity and success.

A young man on Oprah today who survived the Columbine High School shootings perfectly illustrated this concept when he condemned sensationalized news coverage about the Virginia Tech gunman and stated quite eloquently, “What you pay attention to, you empower.” Thanks to this young man for perfectly expressing my opinion of this grotesque new coverage…save the world from negative energy folks, ignore the major networks and support positive and balanced media sources.

Hello Vera, I`m really hopeless at this and hope this is the right Vera I`m talking to!
I followed your link in the comment on my Island Blog, you were asking about the warp weighted loom, here is a useful link, I hope it is helpful. My husband made my own one, from old wooden ships oars which made it easier. Apologies for this having nothing to do with your blog entry here!
